I hate it when people go "nOnMeMbErS dEsErVe mOrE" because they think AJ is being greedy, even though membership is not that expensive. Save money for like a day and you can get a month of membership. Besides, AJHQ gives nonmembers so much more than other games, so much that I played for 7 years as a nonmember and didn't have an issue. AJHQ needs money to continue the game and most of that comes from membership purchases. You can even get free membership if you get a bunch of people to say they heard of AJ from you. It's not like nonmembers are bad or anything but if you play this game without paying then deal with what you get.
Honestly I heavily disagree. There's so many points as to why non-members don't get treated fairly, plus have you ever heard of: poor people? And please, don't suggest "oh! but poor people dont have laptops or whatever!"
1-Can you list at least three points as to why nonmembers aren't treated fairly?
2-People being poor and not being able to afford AJ membership doesn't just apply to AJ. Poor people can't afford food or entertainment or most things, but you can't say a store is bad for charging money for products. Same thing with AJ, you can't say their system is bad just because they charge money. Even if you don't want to pay for membership you can use the Refer a Friend system to your advantage- go to New Jammers and ask them to say they heard of AJ from you, offer them a rare or so if they do.
Where did you get half of that? Seriously, in bullet no. 2 you are doing nothing but putting words in my mouth because I said nothing near any of that. Also, there are different types of poor people, why do you assume all poor people are the same? Some poor people can afford food, but can't afford others. And have you heard of birthdays and Christmas? Yeah, you get gifts. Like electronics. And like I said, everything else you said was nothing but you twisting my words.
Here are my points as to why non-members aren't treated "fairly":
1. Open up the shop, clothing or den. Do you see a lot of non-member items? No.
2. You get treated terribly by the community in general, seriously through my week of being a non-member I got harassed for literally just being anywhere. Got booted out of an adventure someone hosted because I was nm. Booted out of a fashion show because I was a nm.
3. AJHQ sees their non-members as nothing but little kids, even though there are many teen nms and younger nembers.. "
Many Animal Jam parents and players have contacted us, asking for features that could help protect our players more from inappropriate behavior, like cheating and ”scamming." While our safe trading system is the very best way to swap your items with other Jammers, often times items are regretfully given away through our Jam-A-Gram system.
In order to continue offering the safest and most enjoyable play experience in Animal Jam for all Jammers, AJHQ has made gifting via Jam-A-Grams a feature for only members. Our hope is that this change will help reduce the number of players taking advantage of the innocence of our younger players."
4. AJHQ has been turning nonmember items into member items little by little. For example, the "string of leaves" was affected by this.
By the way, no one is demanding entirely equal features with members. That would destroy the entire point of membership. And no one is demanding that membership is free either, so please stop making up things and stop accusing me of having that opinion. I'll go grab some more points later because I suddenly became busy.. with school you know. (I got late to school so I'm in tardy sweep but the staff doesn't monitor what you're doing- the guy in front of me is reading manga.)
Funny how you accuse me of putting words in your mouth when you tell me I'm assuming "all poor people are the same". I'm talking about just people who don't have much. I also never said poor people didn't have electronics and you very obviously expected me to make this claim, and when I didn't, pretended I did anyways and argued against me for it. We don't even have to argue- there is a calm way to do this and I just want to deal with what you're saying. There are ways to get membership without paying on your own, for example, gifts like you mentioned, and like i've mentioned but you haven't responded to, the refer-a-friend system.
1- There's not a lot of nonmember items because, as i mentioned, being nonmember is like having a free trial of a paid service. You don't go to a store, ask for a free sample, and when they give you a generous portion already, demand more. This is honestly pretty rude.
2- That kind of sucks, but I did not experience anything at all like this in 7 full years. Either this is an exaggeration or you're just very unlucky and using this as a standard for all nonmembers. Once or twice I felt like a fashion show was unfair against nonmembers, and I either expressed how I felt about it and got the issue fixed or I moved on and left the den.
3- Reading through this quote, I can tell where you misunderstood, and I honestly feel you exaggerated it quite a bit. "Our hope is that this change will help reduce the number of players taking advantage of the innocence of our younger players." I believe they meant to say that younger players can understand the situation a lot less than older players, so they are more likely to share their password or fall for scams. I don't think they meant to associate nonmembers with being young. Plus, this means nobody can make a spare account to scam through JAGs.
4- Maybe they're bringing in less revenue than normal and they need to do things like these in order to continue the game.
