Hello! I'm hoping to make a regularly-posted blog series about identifying mystery/covered rare pets as i've seen a lot of people have trouble with them. This is part 2: pet squirrels. For part 1 (ladybugs), see here.
DISCLAIMER: Not all features can be identified. Some pet clothing items cover features fully and thus the features cannot be known unless the clothing items are removed.
identifying mystery pets: squirrels[]
Features that can be identified: eye (sparkle only), secondary colour
Unfortunately, squirrels have a large range of accessories that can be used to hide features. Most hat accessories obscure hair and ears, and glasses hide eyes.
All of these hats can be used to hide a squirrel's hair and ears.
[PET PARTY HATS] The acorn and propeller hats are also able to obscure hair and ears fully, and the bonnet is able to obscure bear ears.
The swirly glasses can be used to hide the squirrel's eyes.
The two suits are able to hide the squirrel's secondary colour. Combined with the glasses and a hat, it is impossible to tell a squirrel's features unless it has sparkle eyes.
A "mystery squirrel". No features are able to be immediately identified except for its tail type.
The only features that can be identified on a fully clothed squirrel are the squirrel's eyes (if it has sparkle eyes) and its secondary colour. There is no known way to identify a squirrel's hair and ears if it is wearing a hat unless the hat is taken off.
A sparkle-eyed mystery squirrel. The sparkle animation will intermittently poke out behind the glasses, allowing the viewer to identify them.
A mystery squirrel's secondary colour revealed as the squirrel breathes as a line of pixels. For example, this squirrel has a cyan/light blue secondary.
The bonnet accessory can partially obscure the ears of squirrels. However, it is relatively easy to identify which ears the squirrel has - the only ear type that the bonnet fully covers is bear/square/round ear and all other ear types are at least somewhat visible.
A rat eared squirrel with a bonnet. Both ears are partially visible.
A long/fluffy eared squirrel with a bonnet on. Both ears are partially visible.
A cat/triangle eared squirrel with a bonnet on. Both ears are slightly visible (this would be better demonstrated on a squirrel that is not white)
A bear/square/round eared squirrel with a bonnet on. Note how the ears are not visible.
